Crafting Just Scared the Heck Out of Me: A Very Short Tale of Messiness and Horror

I don’t watch contemporary horror films much (love older B movies), and I can count on one hand the times that as an adult (we’ll say 16+) any film scared me at all. But last night after the rest of the family went to bead, and because I couldn’t sleep, I watched Paranormal Activity 2. There I was, alone in the living room, late at night, watching this film. And that film was frightening me just a bit And yet I didn’t want to change the channel. I just kept watching and watching (guess that’s the sign of an entertaining film right?). When the film ends, I was sufficiently creeped out. I made the rounds of the house, checking that everything is locked. Then I plunked back down on the couch to watch some more TV and I fell asleep.

A few hours later……

Fast forward to a few hours later, where I’ve fallen asleep on the couch. I rolled over, grabbed for the remote, and pushed the button to turn the TV off.  And I fall back asleep. Then, I was woken by a crashing noise. I jumped up. Flipped on the kitchen light. The dog gate is down. No dogs to be found (they’re all snugly in the bedroom). I’m standing there staring at the fallen-over gate for a few minutes (um yes still feeling residual horror film freaked-outness). Out of the dark dining room and into the kitchen comes the cat. Ah, the cat tried to jump the gate and knocked it over. Okay.Kitchen light off. Totally dark.

I go back to the couch and sit down. Then lay down, trying to calm down. That’s when I notice glowing blobs hovering all over the lower part of my shirt. I’m laying there seeing that I’m glowing in the dark. And I’m like, okay …what……and yes and seriously for another minute I was scared and then………I realized it’s dried bits of Glow-In-the-Dark Mod Podge all over my shirt. And I right there in the dark at 2:00 am started laughing at my own silliness, my own sloppiness (I get glue everywhere when I make stuff), and the fact that glow-in-the-dark glue had gotten the best of me.

Got a good Halloween project (something that even glows in the dark?) Please share it below.
